As a salesman and gardener I thought this would be a good way to keep anyone who was interested up to date on what is going on in the world of bulb's and perennials. If you know me, you know that I am very opinionated. Please don't take these to heart, as I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I would welcome all opinions. I am opinionated but not at all closed minded. Thank You.

Old Favorite's Do Not Disappoint
It's July 4th weekend and the garden is coming alive with color and blooms. A few of my favorites that have been in the garden for 3 or 4 years just keep performing well. Two in particular are my Stachys (Betony for the layman), Stachys 'hummelo' (top) and 'minima' (bottom) are up, colorful and strong as ever. Both photo's are from my garden, although the 'minima' looks like a catalog shot, that's how perfect it grows.
I've never seen these before, but I'm completely enamored with the 'minima.' Ball Horticulture sent me some plants to trial this year and I think I'm going to have to look out for 'Hummelo' and grow it next year with their annuals I plan on overwintering.
ReplyDeleteYou're right that bottom pic does look like a catalog shot.
Here is a link to CBG Plant evaluation report for Stachys. Hummelo was rated the best overall.
